Climate Minister Kristen Michal was elected as a candidate for the position of Prime Minister of Estonia, taking into account the upcoming work of Kaja Kallas in EU structures.
Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas submitted her resignation to President Alar Karis. This was reported by ERR on Monday, July 15.
It was indicated that this morning the government met under the leadership of Kallas for an extraordinary meeting, during which the prime minister and the entire cabinet resigned.
Until the new government takes office, Kallas will continue as prime minister. He expressed hope that a new government would be formed quickly.
Kaja Kallas has served as the Prime Minister of Estonia since January 2021.
As you know, Callas should take the post of EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy instead of Josep Borrell.
Earlier in Estonia, Climate Minister Kristen Michal was elected as a candidate for the position of Prime Minister due to Kallas’ upcoming work in EU structures. The new government will begin work in late July or early August.
