The politician said he wanted to continue his speech despite his injuries, but the Secret Service wouldn’t let him.
US presidential candidate Donald Trump spoke about the moment of the assassination attempt that occurred at a campaign event in Pennsylvania. The former president said this in an interview with the New York Post.
Trump said it was luck or God that he survived the assassination attempt.
“I shouldn’t be here. I should be dead. Thanks to luck or God, many people say that it’s thanks to God that I’m still here,” the politician said, showing the journalist a large bruise on his right forearm, which he said he received as agents rushed to the scene to protect him.
Trump added that he wanted to continue speaking after being shot, but the Secret Service insisted he go to the hospital.
“I just wanted to talk, but I just got shot,” the former president said.
The US presidential candidate commented on the call he received from current President Joe Biden, calling the conversation “wonderful” and “very pleasant.”
Let’s recall that on July 14, at the politician’s election rally, a shooting incident occurred, in which Trump received a slight wound in his ear. One of the participants in the incident died, two other people were injured.
Security services neutralized Trump’s attacker, who turned out to be 20-year-old Matthew Crooks. The FBI called the incident an attempted murder.
