Bloomberg writes that Musk contributed to the political group America PAC, which is engaged in campaigning. The amount of the billionaire’s donation is not specified, but its volume is described as “significant.” America PAC is scheduled to disclose a list of its donors on July 15.
Musk has previously publicly denied any involvement in funding any political campaigns. He wrote on the X network that he does not give money to any US presidential candidate, but has recently been increasingly critical of Joe Biden.
The agency claims that Musk wants to “leave his mark on the US political landscape” in this way.
America PAC is the largest payer for direct contact with American voters. To date, it has spent $15.8 million. The group also pays for commissioned materials in the media, SMS mailings and phone contacts with voters, the agency notes.
Trump is expected to be formally nominated next week as the Republican candidate in what could be the most expensive presidential election in the country’s history, Bloomberg notes.
