The tanker Esen Ka with Russian oil products subject to sanctions is located at the terminal of the Georgian port of Batumi.
A ship with Russian oil products entered the Georgian port of Batumi. But the reduction of sanctioned goods is prohibited. This was reported by European Truth in relation to the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia on Monday, June 27th.
“A ship flying the Turkish flag entered the port of Batumi on June 26. A statutory check found that the ship or its owner was not included in the list of international sanctions. Accordingly, permission was granted for on the ship to enter the Georgian port, when the necessary clarifications have been provided by the maritime transport Agency, ”the Revenue Service said.
At the same time, verification of documents revealed that the goods placed on the ship were cargo intended for transportation to Turkey, and the cargo contained oil products shipped by a company, in turn, included in list of international sanctions.
“In connection with the said, it has refused to unload and go through the relevant customs procedures. Currently, the ship under the Turkish flag, together with the specified cargo, is sailing from the port of Batumi,” the ministry added. .
Earlier, Georgian opposition TV channel Mtavari reported that the Esen Ka tanker with Russian oil products subject to sanctions was in the terminal of the Georgian port of Batumi.
The channel source said the Georgian side intends to change the origin of the cargo and send it to Europe as oil products from Kazakhstan, and the situation around the tanker is being handled by people close to oligarch Bidzina Ivanishvili – Ucha Mamatsashvili and Grigol Liluashvili.
Despite Tbilisi’s assurances that Georgia is complying with Western partners ’sanctions against the Russian Federation, there is occasionally information in the media that Russians are evading sanctions with Georgia’s help. At the same time, military equipment was smuggled.
