Moscow is ready to discuss in a comprehensive manner all aspects related to security on the continent, Dmitry Peskov said.
Russia is ready for dialogue on the “Ukrainian settlement”, but Moscow must understand what will be discussed at the second Peace Summit. Kremlin Speaker Dmitry Peskov said this on Thursday, July 11.
Journalists asked him about the possibility of Russia’s participation in such a summit.
“The Russian Federation is always open to dialogue, we do not refuse dialogue, but we must understand what we are talking about,” Peskov replied.
Commenting on the information that the summit could be held in Saudi Arabia, he said that he was not sure of its reliability and that “the location is important, but it is secondary.”
“There is no concrete substance in this matter now, there is no understanding of what agenda we can talk about,” Peskov said.
“It is also very important to note: we will not discuss individual elements taken out of the general security context. And Putin said about this, that we are ready and want to discuss the whole situation as a whole, all aspects with the continent’s security relationship, with the security of our side, with security guarantees for other states.
Earlier on Thursday it was reported that Russia refused to participate in the second Peace Summit. The corresponding statement was made by the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Galuzin.
As you know, on June 15-16, the first Peace Summit took place in Switzerland with the participation of 100 countries and international organizations.
Following its results, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said the second Peace Summit “will take place in months, not years” and will have Russian representatives. He believes the event could be held in the UAE or Saudi Arabia.
