The press service of the Danish Ministry of Defense reported this.
It is noted that the country’s Minister of Defense Troels Lund Poulsen came up with an initiative in the spring for Denmark, in cooperation with Ukraine, to place orders directly with the Ukrainian defense industry – this will ensure faster and more effective military support on the front lines in Ukraine, while simultaneously helping to build the defense industry in Ukraine.
In this initiative, Ukrainian-made artillery pieces play a central role as a pilot project.
When I was in Ukraine this spring to visit a number of defense industry companies in Kyiv, I was convinced of the possibilities of supporting Ukraine through acquisitions through the Ukrainian defense industry, Poulsen emphasized. In this way, we ensure that the equipment that Ukrainians need at the front can be manufactured and delivered nearby.
Denmark provided funding for this project based on an official recommendation from the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine and the Ministry of Strategic Development of Ukraine.
I hope that more countries will support this procurement model in Ukraine. The Ukrainians have more capacity to produce equipment than the funding they have now, Poulsen emphasized.
