Ukrainians are resisting Russia’s total aggression as a single people, both women and men.
Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olga Stefanishina said more and more women are serving in the Defense Forces, with more than ten thousand women now carrying out combat missions on the front line. The press service of the Deputy Prime Minister informed about this following the results of participation in the panel discussion “Women, Peace, Security: The Role of Women Leaders” within the framework of the NATO Public Forum.
“Ukrainians are resisting the Russian aggression as a single people, both women and men are serving in the Defense Forces, and today more than ten thousand women are carrying out combat missions on the front line,” said of the minister.
Separately, the official emphasized that the role of women is also very important in reconstruction, and women’s leadership itself is critical for the development and growth of Ukraine’s economic potential. And in many ways, the Ukrainian experience of women in the security and defense sector today should be studied by the Alliance member countries.
We report that in January 2024, 45,587 women served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Earlier it was reported that the Verkhovna Rada was preparing military registration for women. The bill states that during martial law, women will enter military service, but for combat positions – only voluntarily.
President Vladimir Zelensky said he would not sign the women’s mobilization law.
