The attacker periodically disables the ship’s GPS tracker and enters false information into the log of the ship’s routes and stops.
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) detained a foreign cargo ship and its captain, who worked for the aggressor country Russia, in the waters of the Odessa region. The attacker helped the invaders to export Ukrainian grain from Crimea. The SBU reported this on its Telegram channel on Thursday, July 11.
“The ship sailed under the flag of one of the countries of Central Africa, and its crew carried out orders from the Russian Federation to export Ukrainian grain from the temporarily occupied Crimea… In 2023 -2024, the ship repeatedly docked at the port of Sevastopol to pick up stolen agricultural products.
To cover up the crime, the captain periodically turned off the ship’s GPS tracker and entered false information into the ship’s log of routes and stops. Thus, he helped the Russians export multi-ton shipments of Ukrainian grain stolen from the temporarily occupied regions of southern Ukraine,” the report said.
The captain of the cargo ship is a citizen of one of the countries of the South Caucasus. In addition to him, the ship’s crew included 12 more foreigners, the investigation established.
Documents, navigational aids and other material evidence of criminal activity were found on the ship during the search.
The defendant’s ship was towed to the Odessa region and arrested by court decision. The investigation continues to establish all the circumstances of the crime and other people involved in illegal activities.
The ship’s captain was declared suspicious under Part 2 of Art. 332-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of the procedure for entering and exiting the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine).
The issue of choosing a preventive measure is currently being decided. The perpetrator faces up to 5 years in prison.
We remind you that the SBU detained a female agent of the FSB group in Odessa. At the direction of the Russian intelligence service, the women prepare massive missile and drone strikes on the city’s military infrastructure.
