US Secretary of State Antony Blinken spoke with the newly appointed British Foreign Secretary David Lemmy and discussed further support for Ukraine in the fight against the Russian aggressor. This was announced on Friday, July 5, on the website of the US State Department.
“Secretary of State Blinken and Foreign Secretary Lemmy noted the long-term and vital importance of the special relationship between the US and the UK in addressing our most pressing global challenges, including achieving an immediate and lasting ceasefire in Gaza and supporting Ukraine against Russia’s brutal aggression,” the statement said.
Blinken also congratulated Lemmy on his appointment and said he was looking forward to meeting him at next week’s NATO summit in Washington.
