The President wished the new British government success both in its internal affairs and in strengthening its leadership on the world stage.
President Vladimir Zelensky congratulated Keir Starmer and the British Labor Party on their landslide election victory. The Ukrainian leader wrote this on social network X on Friday, July 5.
According to him, Ukraine and Great Britain have been and will remain reliable allies.
“We will continue to defend and promote our shared values of life, liberty and a rules-based international order,” the president said.
Zelensky wishes the new British government success both in its internal affairs and in strengthening its leadership on the world stage.
“I look forward to close cooperation to strengthen Ukrainian-British cooperation and restore international peace and security,” he said.
The President thanked Rishi Sunak, who will be stepping down, for the continued support from the British Government under his leadership.
“The challenge tanks, Storm Shadow missiles, the training of our F-16 pilots and the first bilateral security agreement are just some of our common achievements that Ukraine will not forget, Rishi,” concluded Zelensky.
As you know, after the parliamentary elections on July 4, the government will change in Britain. Labor will have a commanding majority in the new House of Commons. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has conceded the defeat of his Conservative Party.
Labor Party leader Keir Starmer is expected to become the next leader of the British government.
