The new prime minister will be Keir Starmer, who stated that nothing will change in the issue of support for Ukraine.

The ruling Conservative Party is losing badly to the opposition Labour Party in the parliamentary elections. The British are dissatisfied with wages, healthcare, prices, and the quality of public services.

Thus, already on the afternoon of July 5, Starmer will become the new Prime Minister of Britain after an audience with the British king.

The official constituency tally already confirms that Labour has won 328 seats in the House of Commons – already above the minimum majority of 326.

The vote count is still ongoing, but exit polls are predicting Labour will win 410 seats, one of the party’s best results in history.

“We have done it,” Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer said at a campaign rally in London.

People all over the country will wake up to the news with relief that a burden has been lifted, a weight has been lifted from the shoulders of this great nation. The sun of hope is returning to our great country, he said, adding: The change begins now.

In an echo of former Labour Prime Minister Tony Blair’s 1997 victory speech, Starmer promised that “we were elected as a changed Labour Party. We will lead as a changed Labour Party.”

Keir Starmer was once a human rights lawyer and also head of the Crown Prosecution Service for England and Wales.

He promised to grow Britain’s economy by reforming planning laws and investing in a new industrial strategy. He said he would create a sovereign wealth fund with £7.3 billion ($9.2 billion) of public money to cut emissions to zero. Speaking to fans in central London after formally winning an overall majority, the Labour leader explained what the party’s first election victory since 2005 could mean for the country.

“We have a chance to restore our public services because we changed the party. We have a chance to recoup the work because we changed the party. We have a chance to help working people, young people, vulnerable people, the poorest in our society because we changed the party,” he said.

The new prime minister said the party would aim to restore the idealism his parents once had:

Hope, not high-minded, not idealistic, but hope that working-class families like mine will be able to build a life for themselves. It is a hope that may not burn brightly in Britain at the moment, but we have earned a mandate to rekindle the flame.

By telling his fans to savour the moment of victory, the Labour leader made it clear that the hard work was about to begin.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has phoned Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer to congratulate his rival on his near-certainty of a parliamentary majority in the general election.

Speaking at the polls in his Richmond constituency in Yorkshire, the embattled Conservative leader declared: “The Labour Party has won this election.”

    He continued:

The British people have given a sober verdict and I take responsibility for the loss,” he continued, saying he would travel to London to deliver a speech on the results before stepping down as prime minister.
