The International Criminal Court, together with Ukrainian investigators, is investigating the facts of torture and ill-treatment of Ukrainian prisoners of war in Russian prisons.
More than 110 Ukrainian prisoners have already been executed in Russian prisons. The head of the Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office for Combating Crimes Committed in an Armed Conflict, Yuriy Belousov, spoke about this in an interview with Ukrinform.
According to Belousov, the International Criminal Court, together with Ukrainian investigators, is investigating facts of torture and ill-treatment of Ukrainian prisoners of war in Russian prisons.
He said that the torture of Ukrainian prisoners in Russian detention facilities has become systematic and indicates that it is an important part of the policy of the Russian Federation.
Currently, Ukrainian investigators are collecting evidence from places where the practice of torture is most prevalent. The Office of the Prosecutor General has a separate unit that works on such facts.
It was previously reported that the murders of 62 Ukrainian prisoners were being investigated.
