Chinese leader Xi Jinping arrived on a visit to Kazakhstan on Tuesday, July 2. The politician will take part in a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, where he will meet with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, Xinhua reports.
The Chinese leader will visit Kazakhstan and Tajikistan at the invitation of the Presidents of Kazakhstan Kasim-Jomart Tokayev and Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.
Putin will also visit Astana on July 3-4, where he will take part in the SCO summit. In addition to the meeting with Xi Jinping, the Russian dictator hopes for negotiations with the president of Turkey.
The current SCO summit will be held in Astana on July 4. The event will be attended by heads of state and representative offices of Kazakhstan, India, Iran, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Mongolia, Azerbaijan, Qatar, UAE, Turkey and Turkmenistan, as well as the SCO Secretary -General Zhang Antonio Guterres.
We remind you that this is the second foreign visit of the Chinese leader this year. In May, Xi Jinping made a European tour, visiting France, Serbia and Hungary.
Earlier, Xi Jinping said that China will strive to resolve the “crisis in Ukraine” (as Chinese officials call Russia’s war against Ukraine – ed.) on an individual basis.
On May 16-17, Putin visited China. As a result of the negotiations, Xi and Putin announced that they will strengthen cooperation in the defense sector, and also announced common positions on the “Ukraine issue.”
