Navalnaya will become head of the Human Rights Foundation

The president of the human rights organization, Celine Assaf-Bustani, welcomed the appointment to the widow of the Russian opposition leader.

The widow of Russian oppositionist Alexei Navalny, Yulia Navalnaya, will become head of the international human rights organization Human Rights Foundation and replace Garry Kasparov in this post. This was reported by the Human Rights Foundation.

“For me, as someone who has seen from personal experience the threat of dictatorial regimes to our loved ones and to the entire world, it is a great honor to lead the foundation. Open the Dialogue. In these difficult times, protecting fundamental rights and freedoms is more important than ever. The foundation’s mission is close to my heart, and I hope to help make it happen,” he said.

Navalnaya wrote on social network X that HRF is an organization that “unites those who fight dictatorships around the world.”

HRF said Navalnaya was “known for his unwavering commitment to democratic principles and human rights” as well as his unwavering support for his wife, and assured that he would bring “bad experience and commitment ” in HRF.

HRF President Celine Assaf-Boustani welcomed Navalnaya’s appointment.

Note that Garry Kasparov has led the HRF since 2012.

Let’s recall that on February 16, the Russian authorities announced that Alexei Navalny died suddenly in the correctional colony-3 Polar Wolf in the village of Kharp, Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug of the Russian Federation.
