According to the agreement, the United States will be able to deploy its military and equipment to these facilities. The Finnish authorities assumed the security of those areas to be used by the Americans.
According to Defense Minister Antti Häkkänen, Helsinki and Washington plan to deepen defense cooperation. The United States has similar agreements with more than 20 countries. The contract establishes the basis for the continued presence of American military personnel in Finland.
As you know, in December 2023, the United States and Finland signed a defense cooperation agreement. According to Reuters, the 15 sites include four air bases, a military port and a railway in the north of the country.
