The dynamics of weapons development in Ukraine is high: in 2023, more than 200 types of domestically produced weapons and military equipment were approved for use in the Defense Forces, and in six months of 2024 – about 290.
In the first half of 2024, about 480 types of weapons and military equipment have been adopted, codified, and approved for use in the Ukrainian Defense Forces, about 290 of which are products of domestic gunsmiths. This was announced by the First Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Ivan Gavrilyuk, the press service of the ministry reports.
“In 2024, domestic manufacturers of defense products have significantly increased the production volume of weapons in a wide range are engaged in the development and production of new types of weapons the weapons and equipment that we produce speaks for itself,” Gavrilyuk said.

In the list of codified VT models in the first half of 2024, the largest group is drones, especially UAVs intended for aerial reconnaissance, and drones for various purposes.
The second group is ammunition of various types, mainly for UAVs.
The third group according to the number of codified weapons during the six months of this year is communication and electronic warfare.
In addition, the list includes engineering equipment, ground-based robotic systems, close-combat equipment, mine-clearing equipment, and optical-electronic devices.
It was previously reported that 40 types of artillery weapons have been approved for use in the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Among the codified samples, many foreign-made samples have been approved for use in units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
