Two men suspected of attacking the Israeli embassy in Serbia are in jail in Belgrade. The Times of Israel reported this on Sunday, June 30.
“Two men were taken into custody on suspicion of involvement in a crossbow attack on a police officer outside the Israeli embassy in Belgrade on Saturday as part of a targeted terrorist attack,” the statement said.
The detainee is chosen as a preventive measure in the form of detention. Security measures have been increased to the highest level across the country and police operations are ongoing.
Foreign Minister Israel Katz thanked the Serbian authorities for their “strong support and cooperation following the attempted terrorist attack against the Israeli Embassy in Belgrade today.”
