The right-wing National Rally party of Marine Le Pen and its allies claimed 36.2% of the vote.
In France, on Sunday, June 30, the first round of early elections will take place in the National Assembly, the lower house of parliament. RFI reported it.
In France’s overseas territories, voting began on Saturday, and in mainland France, polling stations will open at 08:00 local time. The first exit poll will be published after 20:00.
About 49 million French people have the right to vote in these elections. They will elect the 577 members of the National Assembly in two rounds.
According to the procedure, if a candidate receives a majority of votes in the first round with a turnout of more than 25%, he immediately wins a seat in parliament. If no candidate is elected, there will be a second round, this time scheduled for July 7.
Most sociological polls indicate that the main contender for victory is the right-wing party National Rally (until 2018 – National Front) Marine Le Pen, which is based on French nationalism, populism and Euroscepticism. In this case, a far-right government will be formed in France for the first time since World War II.
Le Pen’s party and its allies claimed 36.2 percent of the vote.
A left-wing alliance called the New Popular Front, which unites socialists, communists, greens and the far-left Unconquered France party, is second in the polls with 28.3%.
President Emmanuel Macron’s party claims just 20.4%.
Let’s remember that after the defeat of pro-presidential forces in the European Parliament elections on June 9, French President Emmanuel Macron dissolved the National Assembly and announced early elections.
