In addition to HAWK air defense missiles and artillery ammunition, the package includes other types of weapons and equipment.
The White House is preparing a new aid package for Ukraine, which includes HAWK interceptor missiles and 155mm artillery ammunition. Reuters reported this late on Saturday, June 29, citing sources.
The relief package is expected to be presented on Monday, July 1.
In addition to HAWK interceptors and 155mm artillery ammunition, the package will include other weapons and equipment to support Ukraine’s defense needs.
According to the agency, US President Joe Biden’s administration is responding to strong requests from Ukraine for air defense support, as Russia has carried out attacks on Ukrainian energy facilities in recent weeks.
The package would be issued under Presidential Drawdown Authority, which allows the President to quickly move defense goods and services from the US stockpile to support allies.
It was noted that the United States has given Ukraine more than $50 billion in military aid since 2022.
In the past, Spain transferred six HAWK missile launchers to Ukraine, and also trained the Ukrainian military.
In April of this year, it was reported that the United States would sell equipment to Ukraine to modernize the HAWK air defense systems.
