Blaszczak noted that within a few years Poland was receiving American soldiers, their number was increasing.
At the NATO summit in Madrid, to be held on June 28-30, Poland will advocate for increasing the North Atlantic Alliance’s presence in the country against the backdrop of Russia’s aggression on Ukraine. This was announced by Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak in an interview with polskatimes.pl.
According to him, the upcoming NATO summit in Madrid “will be of particular importance, because Russia’s aggression against Ukraine has completely changed the global security system.”
Blaszczak noted that the NATO summit in Warsaw in 2016 led to the creation of battalion battlegroups in Poland and in the region with the participation of allied forces. Poland is in favor of making decisions in Madrid that will lead to a further increase in their potential as an element of restraint and defense in the eastern part of NATO.
“We are looking for more troops and want to increase the readiness of the allied forces in the event of a threat. I confirm that we are trying to deploy a brigade group in Poland within NATO structures,” he said. of the vice prime minister.
According to him, Poland has been receiving American soldiers for several years, and their number is increasing.
“Maintaining this permanent presence is one of my priorities,” Blashak said.
Earlier, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said Poland was ready to build permanent NATO bases to accommodate light units.
Recall that the Baltic countries and Poland are calling for a significant expansion of NATO’s military presence in Eastern Europe.
