The political and economic integration of Russia, China, Iran and North Korea “causes deep concern” to the West.
Regardless of how the war in Ukraine ends, Europe and the United States will face a stronger, angrier Russia for years to come. This was announced by Army General Christopher Cavoli, commander of NATO forces in Europe, on Friday, June 21, National Defense reports.
“Russia’s defeat in Ukraine is very important, but no matter how it ends … we will see a Russia whose army will be brought back much faster than we thought,” the military man said.
He emphasized that NATO is an enemy for Russia and the Kremlin in the future will blame the Alliance for all its defeats.
“So we’re going to have a big problem with Russia in the coming years, and I think we have to prepare for that,” Kavali said.
He emphasized that Russia continues to unite “like-minded people” around – North Korea and Iran, and also strengthens ties with China.
According to the general, the unification of the four countries “raises deep concerns and creates a complex set of problems for the United States, the Alliance and for all freedom-loving people.”
The US Institute for the Study of War (ISW) believes that by taking a step towards rapprochement with North Korea, Putin seeks to create a coalition of friendly states with historically close ties to the Soviet Union – to act as an alternative to the West and the current world order.
