    .

This was reported by the defense concern Rheinmetall. The Bundeswehr entered into a government order with him for the supply of NATO artillery shells of 155 mm caliber and a range of 40 km. The exact amount of ammunition is not known, but the amount of the agreement is a record 8.5 billion euros. Obviously, we are talking about several million shells.

They are intended for stocks of the Bundeswehr and NATO countries, as well as to support Ukraine in its defense fight against Russia, Rheinmetall said.

The head of the concern, Armin Papperger, called it “the largest order in the recent history of our company.” Supply will begin in early 2025. The primary buyer will be the German government, which will transfer part of the shells to Ukraine. The Netherlands, Estonia and Denmark also take part in the agreement.
