Zeekr cars are in relatively high demand in Russia. But from July, the brand’s premium line will be unavailable to Russians.
Chinese car manufacturer Zeekr has banned Chinese car dealers from selling their premium electric cars in Russia after June 30. AvtoVzglyad wrote this in connection with the founder of the new car auction Sergei Pigolkin.
According to him, Zeekr did not explain to the partners the reasons for the ban and did not discuss the fines that would be imposed if it was violated.
Pigolkin noted that cars from this manufacturer are in relatively high demand in Russia.
By 2023, the share of Chinese-made cars will reach about 50% of the total number of new cars sold in Russia. In second place in popularity (about a third) are AvtoVAZ products; At the same time, in December, the share of Chinese vehicles in the total number of vehicles sold exceeded 60% (119.45 thousand vehicles), and the top 10 most popular included eight Chinese brands. AvtoVAZ’s share, on the contrary, fell to 28.5%, according to Autostat data. In total, China supplied about 800 thousand cars to Russia in 2023, which is five times higher than in 2022.
It was previously reported that the delivery of goods from China is becoming more expensive in Russia. Rising remittance rates have added to the already existing difficulties of transferring money in China.
We remind you that Chinese banks have raised the terms of payments from the Russian Federation 12 times, which has become a big problem for Russian business.
