In Ecuador on Wednesday, June 19, a major accident occurred that cut off electricity throughout the country, Reuters reports.
It is known that due to the failure of power lines, approximately 18 million residents lost electricity. And in the capital of the country, Quito, the metro stopped working.
“There was a power line failure that caused a wave of blackouts, so there is no electricity at the national level,” Acting Energy Minister Roberto Luque wrote on social media X.
It is learned that the authorities are working to repair the damaged power lines.
