The European Council has given Ukraine the status of a candidate for EU membership. This decision was fully supported by all EU leaders during the summit in Brussels.
The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky compared our country’s acquisition of the status of a candidate for joining the European Union to the ascent to the highest peak in the world – Everest. This was announced on Friday, June 25, by the head of state in a video message to the Ukrainians.
He noted that today in Ukraine they discussed the historic decision of the EU summit – giving Ukraine the status of a candidate.
The President called on the people: “Let us have at least a little fun. Quiet, modest. For ourselves, our beloved state. We feel the moment and the sweetness of this moment.”
“Imagine that we have conquered Everest. We have reached the penultimate point. We did not look around, did not even breathe and talked about the further road to the top. How difficult it is to surpass the last 1848 meters We immediately forgot and devalued our own success, ”Zelensky said.
He urged “don’t be shy about talking about your own achievements and don’t be someone with a short memory and inferiority.”
Volodymyr Zelenskyy also recalled that we say – “Ukraine has been given the status of a candidate for the EU, but they must say – Ukraine has received the status of a candidate for the EU.”
“Then, he didn’t fall from the sky, we did a lot for it,” he stressed.
At the same time, he noted that the seven requirements for joining the EU should not be a problem.
“Are we scared? No. Before that, we successfully completed hundreds of them. We can really get over this path … There are times we don’t get a ticket at night and fly to Europe in the morning. We’re standing on lines, documents, visas, a bunch of pieces of paper that we brought in a file, requested by all the officers from us, who did not report us electronic declarations … however , we changed everything, ”Zelensky said.
“And the Russians were thrown back. And we will win. Because there we will be respected when we respect ourselves. Inspires you. We deserve it. It has been realized. Please smile! And God bless us all,” the President added.
