Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has updated the leadership of the Ministry of Defense, appointing new deputy ministers, including his cousin Anna Tsivileva. It was reported by Radio Liberty on Monday, June 17th.
Tsivileva is the wife of the former governor of the Kemerovo region, who recently became the Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation, Sergei Tsivilev. According to journalistic investigations, he is Putin’s cousin.
The Tsivilevs are co-owners of a large coal mining company Colmar. In 2023, Anna Tsivileva was appointed head of the Russian fund Defenders of the Father, engaged in social support for families of participants in the war against Ukraine.
In addition to Tsivileva, Pavel Fradkov, the son of the former head of the Russian government and former head of the Foreign Intelligence Service Mikhail Fradkov, was appointed Deputy Minister of Defense. Leonid Gornin became the first deputy minister of defense.
Previously, Putin removed Deputy Defense Ministers Nikolai Pankov, Ruslan Tsalikov, Tatyana Shevtsova and General Pavel Popov from their posts.
Let’s recall that on May 14, Putin signed a decree appointing Andrei Belousov as Minister of Defense instead of Sergei Shoigu.
