Canada has spent more than C$52 million on the reunification of displaced children, energy restoration and economic reforms.
Canada provided assistance to Ukraine in the amount of 52.4 million Canadian dollars (approximately 38.1 million US dollars). Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced this on Sunday, June 16, at a summit in Switzerland, according to his website.
The money will go to a number of social needs in Ukraine. In particular, $15 million ($10.9 million) will be used to support vulnerable children, youth at risk and the reintegration of refugee children who returned to Ukraine from Russia, improving access to justice for victims of crimes in war, supporting male survivors of wartime sexual violence.
The Government of Canada is also investing $20 million ($14.5 million) to restore damaged energy equipment and infrastructure.
In addition, Canada will invest $15.4 million ($11.2 million) to support the International Monetary Fund in its efforts to help Ukraine obtain the technical assistance and training needed to undertake economic reforms and eventually enter the European Union , which will improve Ukraine’s clearance capabilities.
Canada will also contribute $2 million ($1.5 million) to support the safe operation of nuclear power plants through the International Atomic Energy Agency.
Trudeau emphasized that Canada will support Ukraine until victory.
