The task of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the battlefield this year is to prevent the Russian invaders from succeeding in their offensive. President Vladimir Zelensky announced this at a press conference following the Peace Summit in Switzerland on Sunday, June 16.
“In the Kharkov region, I think the situation is better now, it has become stable. Thanks to our soldiers and in the near future, thanks to our partners, our soldiers will be stronger, and there will be a stronger response to the invaders,” said the head of state.
At the same time, Zelensky did not dare to predict the course of hostilities in 2025. According to the president, everything depends on two things – the forces of Ukraine on the battlefield and the results of diplomatic work.
We remind you that on the night of May 10, Russian troops launched an offensive in the north of the Kharkov region. The invaders captured about 10 villages, mainly in the “gray zone” and began to fight for the city of Volchansk.
According to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, since the start of the offensive in the direction of Kharkov, the Russian invaders have lost 4,000 troops. Russia did not abandon plans to continue the offensive in the Kharkov region, despite heavy losses.
