The head of state noted that Russia does not need peace, but Ukraine and its allies need it. He emphasized that the aggressor country had made many tragic historical mistakes, starting with the occupation of Crimea. And he called Putin’s proposals regarding negotiations a mistake. Zelensky stated this at a press conference following the peace summit in Switzerland, broadcast on YouTube.
At the same time, it is a serious mistake, a person who proposes to withdraw from our territories, which are under our control. That is, people who want to end the war can talk at any cost, even about a frozen conflict that does not suit us. But here a man absolutely provoked the whole world and frightened him, saying that he did not want to end the war, but wanted to seize territories,” he said.
He emphasized that “this is a big mistake, which is useful for us.”
The President noted that a plan will be developed that will be transferred to Russia. Then it will be clear whether the aggressor country is ready to end the war. If Russia attends the second Peace Summit, it will indicate that it wants peace. And China influences Moscow and therefore can help Ukraine.
Zelensky also commented on assistance to Ukraine from partners. The president agreed that there were “serious packages” of aid, but stressed that it was not enough to win and it was too late.
The head of state emphasized that as long as Ukraine stands, the world has a chance to prevent a global war from breaking out.
Let us recall that the President of the aggressor country, Russia, Vladimir Putin, said that Moscow is supposedly ready for negotiations with Ukraine and is making a “real peace proposal.” The dictator put forward demands on Ukraine, in particular, regarding territorial concessions, since one of the conditions is the complete withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions.
