The arrested Russian was charged with organizing the escape through prior conspiracy, with a serious transnational nature.
At Fiumicino Airport near Rome (Italy), Russian businessman Dmitry Chirakadze was detained, suspected of organizing the escape of Russian citizen Artem Uss, who was charged in the United States with violating sanctions against Moscow. Corriere della Sera reports.
It was found that the involvement of Chirakadze was indicated by one of the perpetrators of Ussa’s escape from Italy to Russia, the Bosnian Vladimir Jovancic, who was imprisoned at the end of last year.
During the interrogation, the man said that he was approached by Ussa’s wife Maria Yagodina and a Russian named Dima (probably Chirakadze), who paid 7,000 euros to buy a car and a mobile phone needed to organize the escape .
As you know, 54-year-old Chirakadze lives in Geneva, is an aristocrat, a descendant of the Grand Duke of Georgia, married to a rich Russian woman, Lyubov Orlova, where he manages companies and real estate complexes. Among them is a hunting estate in Krasnoyarsk, a favorite vacation spot of Russian officials, especially Artem Uss’s father, the former governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Alexander Uss.
Investigators believe Chirakadze contacted Ussa’s family during his house arrest and coordinated with gang members who helped arrange the escape.
The arrested Russian was charged with organizing the escape through prior conspiracy, with a serious transnational nature.
We remind you that Artem Uss was detained on October 17, 2022 at the request of the United States at Milan airport when he was about to fly to Turkey. The son of the governor of Krasnoyarsk was accused of evading sanctions and money laundering. He is suspected of importing chips for the Russian defense industry from the United States using money from Venezuelan oil shipments to China.
Ussa should be extradited from Italy to the United States. In the US he faces up to 30 years in prison.
As reported, the son of a Russian governor, who escaped from arrest in Italy, arrived in the Russian Federation.
