The bulk carrier Verbena with a Polish crew was sailing from Malaysia to Italy with wood materials.
Yemen’s Houthis attacked the Ukrainian ship Verbena with two anti-ship cruise missiles in the Gulf of Aden. The Central Command of the US Armed Forces reported this on the X social network.
The vessel Verbena, which flies the Palauan flag, is said to be owned by a Ukrainian owner, and has a crew member from Poland on board.
“Verbena reported damage and fire on the ship. The crew is fighting the fire. During the attack, one of the sailors of the civilian ship was seriously injured,” the statement said.
An aircraft from the guided-missile cruiser Philippine Sea (CG 58) evacuated the wounded sailor to another warship for medical assistance.
According to the US military, the bulk carrier Verbena was traveling from Malaysia to Italy with wooden materials.
We remind you that the Yemeni Houthis have been attacking ships in the Red Sea for several months in a row. This is how they responded to Israel’s military operation in the Gaza Strip. Most of the Yemeni missiles and drones were shot down by US and allied warships.
