Journalists analyzed the political, media and expert environment in the United States in the context of supporting Ukraine in the war with Russia. And they created a table with a list of organizations and individuals opposing it.
We analyzed their arguments, compared them with common Russian narratives and debunked these narratives, supporting our theses with arguments and links to sources, the editors write.
All data was taken from open, including official, sources.
We do not call the subjects of this study enemies of Ukraine, we do not challenge or condemn their right to freedom of expression, we are only stating the fact that they oppose support for Ukraine and that the arguments given by many of them are consistent with the Russian propaganda narratives regarding Ukraine – journalists explain.
After the publication, the director of the Ron Paul Institute, Daniel McAdams, published a message on the social network X and an article on the Institute’s website, in which he stated that the publication “Texts,” funded by the American government, created a hate list of American citizens.
In his opinion, proof of US government funding is that the publication’s co-founder underwent training as part of the US government’s TechCAMP project. In fact, Anatoly Bondarenko acted there as a data journalism trainer in 2013, 2014 and 2015, the publication writes.
As the Institute of Mass Information (IMI) writes, all this began to be spread by other conservative publications, far-right and left-wing American activists, attacking the editors, the authors of the article and expressing threats.
Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene also called the publication an “enemies list” and said that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky was behind it.
At the same time, on June 11, Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene also called the publication a list of enemies and stated that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky was behind it.
On June 12, FOX news reported that Senator J.D. Vance and member of the US House of Representatives Matt Gaetz called on US Secretary of State Antony Blinken to send them information about the Ukrainian non-governmental organization Texty.org.ua by June 28. The authors of the letter also asked the House Appropriations Committee to stop supporting Texty.org.ua by the United States. On Tuesday, the committee adopted such a resolution, Texts reported.
And of course, Elon Musk, also featured in the study, responded to the Republican congressman’s call to deprive the organization of donor support and add it to the terrorist list.
We regard this campaign as pressure on freedom of speech and a manifestation of chauvinism towards the citizens of Ukraine. After all, our gaters believe that we do not have the right to investigate the flows of false information that they produce in relation to our country and us, because they are US citizens and we are not,” said the “Texts” team.
