First of all, Ukraine must receive F-16 fighters from Denmark. After that, aircraft deliveries from the Netherlands will begin.
The first F-16 fighters will be delivered to Ukraine this summer – immediately after Denmark begins taking delivery of the aircraft. This is what the head of the Ministry of Defense of the Netherlands, Kaisa Ollongren, said in an interview European reality.
The minister noted that starting this summer, the first F-16s will be delivered to Ukraine, and from then on, deliveries of these aircraft will be put on stream.
“There are many aircraft, and this will strengthen your Air Force… I cannot give a date, so I say: this summer we are following this plan, first you will receive aircraft Denmark we will chase , but this is – general plan,” explained Ollongren.
The head of the Dutch Ministry of Defense suggested that the F-16s themselves will not change the course of the war, but they will make Ukraine’s air force and air defense stronger.
“These warriors will come little by little. Combat use will demonstrate their effectiveness. This will significantly strengthen your air force, and at some point it can lead to your air advantage. But it may not happen right away when you get your first F-16. So if someone expects an immediate effect, I advise you to be more realistic,” added Ollongren.
It was previously reported that a certain number of F-16 fighters, whose partners will be transferred to Ukraine, will be stored in secure air bases abroad.
Russia has already said it will consider foreign-based F-16s supplied to Ukraine as “legitimate targets” if the aircraft participate in combat missions.
