The cooperating mayor of the city of Kupyansk in the Kharkov region, Gennady Matsegora, died after an assassination attempt. His mother Lyudmila Matsegora reported this on one of the social networks on Tuesday, June 11.
In her message, the woman called Gennady Matsegora “beloved son, husband and father,” and indicated the date of his death as May 10, 2024.
Russian Telegram channels wrote that Gennady Matsegora died unconscious in a hospital in Moscow.
We remind you that on June 8, the Main Intelligence Directorate reported an attempt on the life of Gennady Matsegora in the Russian city of Stary Oskol in the Belgorod region, without giving details. And Russian Telegram channels wrote that Matsegora was shot near the house where he lived.
Gennady Matsegora served as mayor of Kupyansk from the banned OPZZH party. On February 27, 2022, it was learned that he surrendered the city to Russian troops. And in April of the same year, Matsegora and his family left for Russian territory.
