According to hromadske sources, Maxim Denshchik, who held the position of director of the legal support department of the Zaporozhye City Council, was shot. In May, he was suspended pending an internal investigation.
Investigators opened criminal proceedings on the fact of premeditated murder.
Public writes that in early May, Denshchik reported pressure from the head of the Zaporozhye OVA Fedorov.
In the commentary, Denshchik noted:
I was removed from my position, it would seem, on the basis of some anonymous letter that I had somehow exceeded some authority… Even such legal nihilism, when I am removed, I am forbidden to appear in the administrative building and my place of work is determined to be the Kommunarskaya district administration, which is completely contrary to current legislation.
However, Maxim Denshchik said that he did not contact law enforcement agencies.
On May 2, he published the following statement on Facebook about pressure from the head of the Zaporozhye OVA, Ivan Fedorov:
I want to officially declare the pressure on me from the chairman of ZOVA Ivan Fedorov! The latter “in an amicable way” suggested that I resign from my position several times of my own free will. I refused because I believe that I am fulfilling my duties honestly and conscientiously!
Police officers established that at the entrance of a high-rise building, an unknown person fired shots at a local official with a firearm and fled the scene.
The victim was taken to a medical facility, where he died during medical treatment. Investigators opened criminal proceedings on this fact. Legal qualification – Part 1 of Art. 115 (murder) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Primary investigative and search activities are ongoing, the police said.
