The chief of aviation of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Sergei Golubtsov, told Radio Liberty.
As for 30-40 aircraft. It should be understood here that not all aircraft that will be transferred to Ukraine will now arrive in Ukraine. Some of them will remain in the centers where our pilots and aviation personnel are trained. These will be Ukrainian aircraft that will be used to train our pilots.
There is a figure that will be included in Ukraine. There are several aircraft that will be stored at safe air bases, not in Ukraine, so that they will not be targets here,” the officer told reporters.
According to him, such destroyed aircraft will be a reserve for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, including if necessary “to replace faulty aircraft during routine maintenance.”
He added that if there are more trained pilots, there will accordingly be more F-16 aircraft on the territory of Ukraine. At the same time, now, according to Golubtsov, Kyiv understands how many planes will arrive next year. In the future, depending on the circumstances, the quantity may change.
