The Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces uses Western-made KABs, such as GBU-39 and GBU-62 of various calibers.
The chief of aviation of the Air Force Command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Sergei Golubtsov, spoke about this in an interview with Donbass Realii (Radio Liberty project).
According to him, work is now continuing to re-equip and create our own adjusted aerial bombs based on conventional free-fall bombs.
Golubtsov noted that they contain design nuances, in particular, you need to select a wing, a GPS module, and a control module.
He added that currently the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces uses Western-made KABUs, for example GBU-39 and GBU-62 of different calibers.
The Ukrainian Air Force adapted Soviet combat aircraft to use American GBU-39 aerial bombs. The GBU-39 has wings that allow it to reach targets longer than conventional bombs.
It is stated that these bombs have proven resistant to interference created by Russian electronic warfare systems. Also, their small size makes it difficult for Russian air defense systems to detect and intercept these bombs.
