Eight years later, PACE acknowledged Russia’s guilt in the crash of MH17 flight into the sky over Donbass.
Flight MH17, which crashed on July 17, 2014, was shot down over the Donbass by a Russian missile. This is stated in the resolution of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, published on Thursday, June 23, on the PACE website.
The document says based on evidence provided by the authorities of Ukraine and the Netherlands, the most convincing version remains that the plane was shot down by a missile from the Buk air defense system, which was reached by one of the military units of Russian Federation to Donbass.
It is learned that PACE was shocked by the misinformation of the Russian authorities about the crash of the Malaysia Airlines plane.
“Instead of providing reliable information to the competent investigative authorities, the Russian authorities are spreading disinformation, including conflicting versions of events designed to create confusion. As the open source intelligence published shows in many reports, Russian authorities have gone so far as to reveal false radar, satellites and other data to hide the truth, ”the document said.
It was also reported that during the investigation, the versions according to which flight MH-17 was shot down by a Ukrainian Su-25 or MiG-29 fighter, or a Ukrainian Buk, were completely refuted.
Two weeks earlier, the last court session in the case of the downed flight MH17 in the air over Donbass in July 2014 had ended in the Netherlands. Judgment announcement is expected in November or December 2022.
On July 17, 2014, a Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 flying MH17 from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur crashed in the Donetsk region. All 298 people on board were killed. During the investigation, it was established that the plane was shot down by Russian military personnel with the participation of pro-Russian separatists using the Buk anti-aircraft missile system, brought to Ukraine from Russia. It belongs to the 53rd anti-aircraft missile brigade of the RF Ministry of Defense.
In addition to Colonel Oleg Pulatov (Gyurza), two other Russians are involved in the case – the former “defense minister” of the self -proclaimed “DNR” Igor Girkin (Strelkov), Major General Sergei Dubinsky (Khmury), and a citizen of Ukraine Leonid Kharchenko (Krot).
