The company’s press service reported this today, June 7.
Railway workers are temporarily making changes to the schedule of commuter electric trains:
- Throughout June, Ukrzaliznytsia is temporarily adjusting the schedules of 74 commuter electric trains throughout Ukraine. The changes will not affect critical electric trains that provide transportation for the population to and from work;
- Some trains will temporarily not run, and some will change their frequency or have limited routes. The company promises to make every effort to maintain railway connections between all settlements;
- the first changes in the schedule occurred already on June 7 on certain directions of the Lvov and Pridneprovskaya railways. Later, corresponding changes will be introduced on the South Western and Southern Railways;
- and subject to an improvement in the energy supply situation and an increase in limits, the movement of commuter electric trains will gradually resume.
It is noted that Ukrzaliznytsia is one of the largest operating companies of the electricity distribution system and supplies it both for its own needs and for the population and industry.
In the situation that has developed in the country’s energy system after enemy terrorist attacks, railway workers are striving to help power engineers resume electricity generation, the company notes.
Thus, Ukrzaliznytsia plans to implement electricity generation projects in different regions of Ukraine.
We are talking about dozens of distributed generation facilities with a total capacity of up to 250 MW. This will partially cover the power needs of Ukrzaliznytsia’s critical infrastructure facilities, as well as consumers throughout Ukraine connected to the company’s distribution network, the company notes.
Currently, Ukrzaliznytsia is looking for sources of funding for this, in particular, negotiations are underway to attract grants and international financial assistance. Consultations with equipment suppliers are also ongoing.
