Under the procedural leadership of the Khmelnitsky Regional Prosecutor’s Office, suspicions were reported to family members from the Kamenets-Podolsk region of high treason (Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, in February 2024, a deputy of one of the village councils established a connection through the Telegram messenger and the Odnoklassniki social network banned in Ukraine with a representative of the FSB of the Russian Federation. She was offered, for a monetary reward, to collect data on the locations of military personnel of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The woman agreed and involved her son and daughter in activities in favor of the enemy.
The suspects went to checkpoints and conveyed information to the enemy about the presence of military and police officers there.
Later they carried out another task of the Russian intelligence service. They reported the location, composition and armament of mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ air defense in the area, and also made marks on Google Maps.
The family also fulfilled a number of instructions from the curator from the Russian FSB: they collected information about the access roads to the military unit, the perimeter of the territory, the location of checkpoints, the surveillance system, the placement of posts, as well as the location of parking spots for military personnel’s personal vehicles.
The suspects received money for their “work.”
They were detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of Ukraine when bypassing the locations of mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ air defense. The transfer of collected intelligence data and photographs to the enemy was prevented. Currently, all three family members have been subject to preventive measures in the form of detention.
