In the United States, Britain and the European Union, there is not yet enough ammunition for Ukraine for a long war with Russia. Supply routes have not yet been established, and stocks are already running out, said British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace.
British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace said that Kyiv’s Western partners are looking for ways to solve this problem, reports The Times.
Wallace told the publication that his country, the European Union and the United States were not prepared for the threats they faced and had already spent a lot of their reserves. The minister said that Western armored vehicles and howitzers transferred to Ukraine perform well on the battlefields, but the delivery routes have not been fully debugged.
The Times writes that Ukraine has already received about 300 thousand pieces of artillery ammunition, but if the Armed Forces of Ukraine use them with the same intensity as the Russian army, they will last for 40 days. After that, Ukraine will need new shells, which, perhaps, the West will not be able to supply now.
On June 20, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Wallace held talks with arms manufacturers to increase production rates.
Earlier, Bankova announced the number of weapons needed by Ukraine for parity in forces with Russia. According to Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the head of the Presidential Administration, the Armed Forces need about a thousand 155-mm howitzers, 500 tanks, 300 MLRS, two thousand armored vehicles and a thousand drones.
