The Ukrainian parliament, with the votes of 255 people’s deputies, supported in the first reading draft law No. 11161 on the procedure for compensation for destroyed property in temporarily occupied territories. Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak reported this on June 4 on Telegram.
It is noted that if real estate is located in territories of active hostilities or temporarily occupied, the owner of such property can submit an application for compensation according to the procedure and list of documents in accordance with the existing procedure in the Law, in addition to the requirement to provide documents (including photo and video recording materials) of the property before/after destruction/damage.
There will be no physical survey of such properties. The owner of property has the right to renounce ownership of such property in favor of the state.
Let us recall that in December 2023, Ukraine began paying compensation for housing destroyed by the Russian army. The government assured that anyone who has already received a housing certificate can reserve funds to purchase a house or apartment through the Action application.
