In the village of Gusyatin in the Ternopil region, the graves of Ukrainian Defense Forces soldiers who died at the front were desecrated. The suspect is in jail. This was reported on Monday, June 3, on the website of the Main Directorate of the National Police of Ukraine in the Ternopil region.
It is indicated that at the scene of the incident, representatives of the National Police recorded four damaged graves of military personnel who died in the war. Crosses were thrown from them, candlesticks were scattered, the national flag of Ukraine and pictures of military personnel were torn.
Law enforcement identified the suspect. He turned out to be a 53-year-old resident of one of the community’s villages. He has previously been convicted several times for property crimes.
The police are trying to find out the reasons for this behavior. He himself does not explain his actions.

The police added that criminal proceedings have been initiated under Part 2 of Art. 297 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Desecration of a grave, other grave or the body of the deceased). The punishment of the article provides punishment – from three to five years of restriction or imprisonment.
Currently, the issue of declaring suspicion to the person involved and choosing a preventive measure is being decided.
In the Zhytomyr region, a local resident carried out a pogrom at the grave of a soldier.
