The book and thematic exhibition are designed to draw the attention of the international community to the crimes committed against Ukrainian children during the war.
The National Museum of the History of Ukraine opened an exhibition and presented the book Living the War: Children during Russia’s war against Ukraine, created as part of the implementation of the Bring Kids Back UA plan, approved by President Vladimir Zelensky. The Office of the President of Ukraine announced this on Saturday, June 1, International Children’s Day.
The exhibition is designed to draw the attention of the international community to the crimes committed against Ukrainian children during the war.
“The book contains eight stories, eight voices of deported children whose parents were killed, who lost their homes and spent many months under work crimes committed against them,” said Advisor and Presidential Commissioner Daria Gerasimchuk.
Prosecutor General of Ukraine Andrey Kostin mentioned unprecedented crimes against Ukrainian children: murders, injuries, sexual violence, killing of fathers of children and deportations.
The Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Dmitry Lubinets, emphasized that Ukraine is doing everything to bring Ukrainian children home. The corresponding International Coalition includes 36 countries.
“Cases of the return of Ukrainian children are very rare and each time is unique, because Russia does not seek to return the children, because in this case it admitted that the aggressor country kidnapped them,” Dmitry Lubinets emphasized.
We remind you that, according to juvenile prosecutors, at least 550 children died in Ukraine as a result of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation. The Office of the Prosecutor General has repeatedly stated that they only present proven and well-documented information about dead and injured children, but in fact their number is much higher.
