The PAP deleted these messages, published a denial, and the Polish government noted that it was a hacker attack by the Russian Federation.
Hackers, possibly linked to Russian intelligence services, carried out a cyber attack on the Polish Press Agency (PAP). Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digitalization Krzysztof Gawkowski announced this to Polsat News. Ukrinform.
The minister said that a message was posted twice on the agency’s website about the mobilization of 200 thousand Poles in the near future to participate in the war in Ukraine. The PAP deleted these messages, published a denial, and the Polish government noted that it was a hacker attack by the Russian Federation.
“Everything indicates that we are dealing with a cyber attack, controlled from the Russian side. The goal is disinformation before the election and paralyzing society,” said Gavkovsky.
The incident was reported to the country’s intelligence services and the head of the government of the Republic of Poland, Donald Tusk.
In a fake message purporting to be from the head of the Polish government, Tusk, the hackers wrote that from July 1 to November 1, partial mobilization was announced in Poland, and 200 thousand people of various specialties were going to war in Ukraine.
It was also noted that the fake message contained grammatical errors, which could indicate its preparation by foreigners.
It was previously reported that three cybercriminals were arrested in Ukraine in an international operation. Promotion called Final Operation was initiated and implemented by France, Germany and the Netherlands. It was supported by seven countries, including Ukraine.
