Donald Trump, the former President of the United States, was found guilty by a jury in New York on all 34 counts of falsifying business records brought against him in a criminal case for hiding money to influence the 2016 election.

    .

    The Guardian reports this.

The verdict came after a jury of 12 New Yorkers deliberated for about 12 hours in what was unprecedented in U.S. history, the first criminal trial against a president, current or former.

Trump faces 34 counts of falsifying business records in connection with a payment his former lawyer Michael Cohen made to porn actress Stormy Daniels before the 2016 election.

Then, according to investigators, Cohen paid Daniels $130,000 for silence about her affair with Trump, which were documented as “legal expenses.”

Trump’s sentencing date is set for July 11, just days before the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, where party leaders are expected to formally nominate him as the presidential candidate in the Nov. 5 election, the Associated Press reported. .

This was a rigged, disgraceful trial,” an enraged Trump told reporters after leaving the courtroom. – The real verdict will be on November 5th from the people. They know what happened and everyone knows what happened.

Trump’s lawyer has already stated that his client intends to appeal the verdict.

Trump faces a sentence of up to four years in prison. However, the charge of falsifying business records is a Class E felony in New York, the lowest level of crime in the state, and the penalty will be decided by a judge.

Other penalties may include a fine or probation. And it’s entirely possible that the judge will allow Trump to avoid serving any sentence until he has exhausted his appeal.

The conviction also does not bar Trump from continuing his campaign and assuming the presidency if he wins. Trump’s daughter-in-law Lara Trump, co-chair of the Republican National Committee, has already said that if Trump is sentenced to home confinement, he will hold virtual rallies and campaign events.
