Donald Trump became the first president in United States history to be convicted of a felony.
A US jury has reached a verdict in former President Trump’s “hush money” criminal trial. The Hill reported this on Thursday, May 30, citing the judge who read the jury’s notes on Thursday afternoon.
“The former US president has been found guilty of falsifying financial records related to payments to former porn star Stormy Daniels,” the publication wrote.
Thus, the court found Trump guilty on all 34 counts. They are all linked to monthly payments to Michael Cohen – a Trump aide – who brokered a $130,000 payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels.
What the punishment will be for Trump is still unknown. Trump’s official verdict will be announced on July 11. The date is close to the Republican National Convention, which is scheduled to begin on July 15 and elect the party’s presidential candidates.
Trump has denied any involvement and has pleaded not guilty. The court’s decision was a “disaster” and a “rigged process.”
Previously, the media reported that Trump spent about $5 million in courts in March.
Also in March, the matter almost came to the foreclosure of Trump’s property.
