This new railway line is needed by the aggressor country in case of the destruction of the Kerch Bridge. The enemy can establish uninterrupted supplies of ammunition and infantry to the southern regions of Ukraine and Crimea. This is stated in the Frontelligence Insight report.
New satellite photos show that the invaders have completed construction and are putting into operation a new railway line between Burno and Malovodne in the occupied part of the Donetsk region. This railway is up to 80 km long and will connect the above settlements with Mariupol.
Analysts claim that the Russians were able to establish a “test” operation of the railway between Volnovakha and the Mariupol seaport. This branch can become fully operational in the summer of 2024.
Let us recall that in March, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, Kirill Budanov, stated that railway tracks in the occupied territories could become a problem for Ukraine. However, the Ukrainian defense forces can cope with the land part of the railway that the Russians are building.
