In total, in the South, Ukrainian defenders repulsed 19 assault attempts, of which 12 were in the Orekhovsky direction, where several settlements are located. Most of the attacks were recorded in the Staromayorsky area. On the Left Bank there were seven enemy attempts to advance forward. The Russians stormed not only Krynki, but also the island of Nestriga. Press Secretary of the Southern Defense Forces Dmitry Pletenchuk stated this during the telethon.
According to him, Nestriga Island is of strategic importance both for the occupiers and for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. In fact, it is on the right bank, and the Russians also want to have a bridgehead on the right bank of the Dnieper.
Pletenchuk is confident that the aggravation on the battle line is connected with preparations for the Peace Summit, which will take place on June 15-16 in Switzerland.
Let us remind you that on April 28, the Ukrainian Defense Forces liberated the island of Nestriga in the Kherson region from Russian invaders, which is directly included in the Dnieper delta and has long remained a gray zone. In the Kherson region there are only thousands of small islands that are located at the mouth of the Dnieper. Locals call them plavny.
