The fact of torture of the convict for almost an hour is documented. The circumstances of the involvement of the colony leadership and other people in the commission of the crime are being investigated.
In the Poltava region, four correctional colony workers who tortured prisoners received a report of suspicion. The Office of the Prosecutor General reported this on Wednesday, May 29.
Colony employees reportedly taunted inmates. Immediately upon arrival in the colony, the prisoners were forced to perform actions that could compromise them in front of other convicts, and the whole process was filmed for further blackmail.
“If the convict refused to comply with the requirements, torture was used against him with hands, feet, rubber truncheons, sticks, his arms were twisted behind his back, kept in a lying position on a wet surface,” the report said
It is reported that the fact of torturing the convict for about an hour is documented.
“All this is accompanied by constant psychological pressure, the main purpose of which is to destroy a person’s freedom and force him to unconditionally follow any instructions,” the Prosecutor General’s Office reports.
This happened in February 2022, and the investigation into this fact began in January 2023. In order to identify the people involved, several procedural actions were carried out, and 10 examinations were appointed.
The collection of evidence of other facts of torture, in particular the torture that led to the victim’s death, continues.
“The circumstances of the involvement of the colony leadership and other people in the commission of the crime are being investigated,” the UCP noted.
The issue of arresting the suspects has been decided.
